Rex Milton Lewis, 41, of Jesup, Ga. passed away Friday, September 10, 2021. He was born in Jesup to the late Jimmy Lewis and Leona Fultz Benes. For those that knew him, they'll tell you that you wouldn't find many people as good hearted as him. He loved everyone and was always willing to help others. He loved the Lord and was a member the Mystery Gospel Church. Rex was a graduate of Wayne County High School Class of 1998, was a "Jack of all trades" and there was not much that he could not do. He was a member of IBEW local #508 and had worked numerous jobs throughout his life. His family meant everything to him and he loved them "to the moon and back, always and forever".  Some favorite pastimes were playing the guitar, singing, fishing, golfing, watching sports, especially the Dawgs on Saturday. Though his story may have ended early, his influence will last forever. His parents, Jimmy Lewis and Leona Fultz Benes; paternal grandparents, Milton and Pearl Lewis; maternal grandmother, Nancy Strickland, all preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife of 15 years, Jenna Lewis and his boys, Samuel B. Lewis, Daniel M. Lewis, Matthew G. Lewis, and Joseph E. Lewis, all of Jesup;  brothers, David (Ryan) Lewis, Silas (Rebecca) Lewis, and Zeth Flowers; sisters, Nancy (Spencer) Davis, Faith (Taylor) Thornton, Brenda (Kyle) Alewine; step-parents, Charlene Lewis and Stephen Benes; family friend, Michelle Flowers; brothers-in-law, James (Kayla) Riendeau, Charles (Kristi) Crews, and Tyler Thornton;  several nieces, including Erica (Anthony) Rozier;  nephews, including Christopher Davis and two great-nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 AM, Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at the Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Wayne Manning, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the Mystery Gospel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Samuel B. Lewis, David Lewis, Silas Lewis, Zeth Flowers, James Riendeau, Charles Crews, Spencer Davis, Jarred Kent and Benji Beasley. Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Thornton, Christopher Davis, Anthony Rozier, Kyle Alewin, Allen Rhoden, Stephen Ryals and Taylor Thornton.

Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Monday, September 13, 2021 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, an education fund has been established, Lewis Education Fund, 1023 Odessa Rd. Jesup, GA 31546.
