Dr. Roy Enoch Phillips, 82 of Odum died Thursday, October 10, 2019.  The Florida native and U.S. Air Force Veteran had lived most of his life in Wayne County, was a 1955 Jesup High School Graduate and a licensed minister.  He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Holistic Health Education and his PHD in Social Philosophy from the University of California.  Roy was a sculptor with works displayed in museums in Savannah and Florida.  He was also an author and spiritual teacher as well as retreat leader. His son, David Roy Phillips and parents, Eugene Phillips and Grace Waters Westberry preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife of 29 years, Gail Phillips of Odum; two sons, Steven Phillips of Bradenton, Fla. and Matthew Phillips of Spokane, Wash. and their mother, Christine Ford Bennett of Brunswick; stepson, Jeremy Carter of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a sister, Patricia Slovacek of Jesup; two grandchildren, Ansley and Hilary Phillips.

A celebration of life service will be 2 PM Saturday, October 12, 2019 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with family officiating. Interment will follow in the family cemetery, 3777 Collins Loop Road, Odum, Ga. 31555. Active pallbearers will be family.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
