Screven, GA Franklin "Ron" Burch, 41, of Screven, Georgia, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Wayne County, Georgia, and a member of Ritch Missionary Baptist Church. Ron was a 1988 graduate of Wayne County High School in Jesup, Georgia, and he attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. An exceptional lifelong farmer, he was a partner in the family-owned business of FMR Burch Farms in Screven, Georgia. During his lifetime, he was honored numerous times in the field of agriculture, including receiving the Georgia Cotton Quality Award in 2009 and was Georgia Young Farmer's 2002 Outstanding Farm Family. He was a member of the Southern Pullers Association and a director for the Wayne County Young Farmers. He also served as a part-time officer for the Screven City Police Department. Ron had a passion for martial arts and held a black belt in Tae kwon-do. Sharing his love of martial arts and self-defense with others, especially children, with whom he had a special gift of teaching, became a life-time endeavor. He also loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle with friends and racing his Firebird. But his "heart" was and always will be "his two girls." He is survived by two daughters, Logan & Haley Burch, both of Screven, Georgia; his parents, Franklin & Mary Ann Bennett Burch of Screven, GA; 2 sisters, Angie (Clay) Brewton, Joy (Steven) Meeks, both of Screven, GA; niece & nephew, Jaicee Brewton & Tyler Brewton, both of Screven, GA; a special aunt, Gloria Ellis; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins and special friends. Funeral services will be 3 P. M. Sunday, July 3, 2011, from the Screven First Baptist Church with Harold Delk & Rev. Shon Cunningham officiating. Interment will be in the Bennett Cemetery in Screven. Active pallbearers will be: Forrest Aspinwall, Emory Clary, Mike Hargrove, John Howell, Dennis Kornegay, Greg Spell, Joe Wasdin, & Levi Yoder. Honorary pallbearers will be: Employees of FMR Burch Farms- Jackie Hipps, Edward (Fish) King, Chris McKinzie, Bobby Truitt, Jose Zarranga, Zenon Cruz, Gilberto Reyes, other honorary pallbearers included are: Bill Clary, Mike Grayson, Michelle Hargrove, Ondi Lastinger, Gail Scott, Larry Shaw, Chris Stokes, Alan Thomason, David Thornton, Michael Westberry, Archie Clary, Donna Jo Westberry Thomas, John David Jones, & Mark Sertich.
