Dorothy Collier Fender's Obituary

Jesup, Ga. Dorothy Collier Fender, 95 of Jesup, Ga. died Sunday, September 11, 2011 after an extended illness. The Echols, Ga. native was a member of Jesup First Baptist Church and the Senior Ladies Sunday School Class. She loved cooking, gardening, and was a charter member of the Dogwood Garden Club. She was the widow of George Fender and also predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Gloria June and D. Hugh Sapp; brothers, J.T., Woodrow, and Ellis Collier; and a sister, Eloise Judah. Survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Judy Fender of Jesup, Ga.; a sister, Eldora Collier Amason of Augusta, Ga.; grandchildren, Larry Sapp, D. Hugh "Buddy" Sapp, Jr., Ann Anderson, Karen Brantley, Lori Maxey, Arria Bland, and Damon Fender; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Jesup First Baptist Church with Dr. Mike VonMoss officiating. Interment will be in the Jesup City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be D. Hugh "Buddy" Sapp, Jr., Larry Sapp, Carl Anderson, Victor Anderson, Damon Fender, and David Bland II. Honorary pallbearers will be the Dogwood Garden Club members and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class Members of Jesup First Baptist Church. Visitation will be 1 to 2 P.M. prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Finishing with Faith Building Fund of Jesup First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1115, Jesup, Ga. 31598 and Hospice of South Georgia Building Fund, 117 Drennon Drive, Jesup, Ga. 31545.
