Jesup, Ga. Dewitt Goober, 54 of Jesup, Ga. died Sunday, October 2, 2011 in St. Joseph's Hospital in Savannah, Ga. of a stroke. The Wayne County, Ga. native attended Church of God, was a retired commercial truck driver, a U.S. Army Veteran that was recognized as an expert marksman, and an avid wrestling fan. He was predeceased by his dad, Leonard Dewitt Goober. Survivors are his mother, Clarice Scott Goober of Jesup, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, Glynn and Deborah Goober of Jesup, Ga.; a nephew, Brandon Goober of Jesup, Ga.; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Hulet Smith, Rev. Eugene Evors, Rev. Dennie Waters officiating along with the American Legion's presentation of the U.S. Flag. Interment will be in the Old Bethel Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lawrence Goober, Paul Goober, Brandon Goober, Mitch Beverly, Kenny Goober and Ricky Goober. Honorary pallbearers will be Wid Delk, Jinks Scott, Larry Dorsey, Jerry Dorsey, Danny McDonald, Willie Roberts, Joseph Anderson, and Bobby Trull. Visitation will be 1 to 3 P.M. prior to services at the funeral home.
