Jesup, Georgia Virginia Harter O'Quinn, 85, of Jesup, GA, died Sunday, March 11, 2012, in Wayne Memorial Hospital, under the care of Hospice of South Georgia, after a short illness. The Wayne Co., GA, native was a member of Jesup First Baptist Church and the longest attending member. She was also a member of the Deborah and Esther Sunday School Class. She was a retired Wayne County High School Media Center Clerk and worked for many years with Southern Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of the Wayne County Historical Society, Wayne County Retired Educators Association, the Altamaha Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, the Altamaha Rafthands, and the Ruby Riggins Camellia Garden Club. She enjoyed fishing, genealogy, outdoors, gardening, sports and bowling. She was the widow of William "Bill" Speir O'Quinn, and predeceased by her parents: William Henry and Ida Brown Harter, brother: William Harding Harter, and a sister: Audrey H. Roberson. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors are a daughter: Monica and Ronnie Hall of Jesup, GA, two sons: Spec and Teresa O'Quinn, Jeffrey O'Quinn, both of Jesup, GA, two grandchildren: Amber O'Quinn and John O'Quinn, both of Jesup, GA, several nieces, nephews, and cousins by the dozens. Funeral services will be 11 A. M. Tuesday, March 13, 2012, from the Jesup First Baptist Church with Dr. Mike VonMoss and Helen Hirvela Aberle officiating. Interment will be in the Jesup City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Fred Fender, Troy Fore, John O'Quinn, Floyd Roberson, Carl Flathmann, Robbie Sapp, J. R. Tankersley, and Mickey Harter. Honorary pallbearers will be: Deborah and Esther Sunday School Class of Jesup First Baptist Church, Wayne County Historical Society, Wayne County Retired Educators and the Jesup High School Class of 1944.
