Screven, Ga. Carolyn J. Wright, 76 of Screven, Ga. died Sunday, December 30, 2012 in St. Joseph's Hospital after a sudden illness. The Pierce County, Ga. native was a Patterson High School Graduate and had lived in Screven, Ga. since 1955 when she married her childhood sweetheart. She was a member of Ritch Baptist Church where she was the WMU president. Her community involvement included working the polls at the Ritch Precinct and serving on the Department of Family and Children Services Board. She worked as a paraprofessional in the Wayne County School System for over 30 years in Wayne County High School and the Screven Elementary School Kindergarten Class. Survivors are her husband of 57 years, Elliott R. Wright of Screven, Ga.; two daughters, Teresa and Marvin Manuel of Jesup, Ga., Renee Griffis of Atlanta, Ga.; very special grandchildren, Jennifer and Jeremy Syron of Screven, Ga., Glenn and Angelisa Griffis of Odum, Ga.; 5 very, very special great grandchildren, Blayne Syron, Chance Syron, Blake Syron, Baylee Griffis and Anzleigh Griffis; 3 sisters, Edna Creech of Jesup, Ga., Juanita Raulerson of Waycross, Ga., Jackie Perkins of Odum, Ga.; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Ritch Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Ledbetter and Rev. Tracy Todd officiating. Interment will be in the Ritch Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her family. Honorary pallbearers will be the WMU members and the Ladies Sunday School Class of Ritch Baptist Church, her former students and faculty of Screven Elementary School, Christy Manning and the "beauty shop girls".
