Kenneth L. Barnhill, Sr., 66 of Jesup, Georgia, died Sunday, March 1, 2015 at his residence after a short illness. The Duval County, Florida native had lived in Wayne County, Georgia the past nineteen years and was a Baptist. He was former employee of James River Corporation and was a U.S. Army Veteran and a Purple Heart and Bronze Star recipient serving in Vietnam Era. He was a lifetime member of DAV Post 1 and American Legion Post 9 of Jacksonville, Florida. He enjoyed animals, coin collecting, watching Westerns and being with family. He was predeceased by his parents, Jack Barnhill and Mildred Strickland; two brothers, Jerry and Julius Barnhill; half-sister, Vernell Strickland. Survivors are his wife of thirty-nine years, Deborah Woodward Barnhill of Jesup, Georgia; daughter, Dawn Overstreet and fiancée, Billy Boleman of Jesup, Georgia; son, Kenneth "Lamar" Barnhill, Jr. of Jesup, Georgia; sisters, Debbie Glanton and Elaine Gill both of Jacksonville, Florida, Joann Nadelin of Liberty, New York; brothers, Jack Barnhill of Lexington, South Carolina, T.J. Barnhill of Jacksonville, Florida; Edward Barnhill of Crossville, Alabama; half-brothers, Buddy Strickland and Keith Strickland both of Jacksonville, Florida; three grandchildren, Caleb Overstreet, Nicholas "Cole" Boleman and Billy Boleman, Jr. all of Jesup, Georgia; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stanley Todd officiating. Graveside service will follow with military honors in Georgia Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, Georgia at 1:00 p.m. Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Lamar Barnhill, Jr., Billy Boleman, Jacob Hutcherson, Terry McWhorter, Jay Barnhill, and Jonathan Mitchell.
