"Winton" Owen Carter, Sr., 77 of Odum, Ga. died Sunday, December 25, 2023. The Wayne County native was a retired CSX Railroad Employee and enjoyed buying and rebuilding tractors. He was deceased by his parents, Dewey and Ruby Cater and a daughter, Becky Griffis.

Survivors are his wife of 57 years, Darlene Smith Carter of Odum, Ga; two  daughters, Yolanda Carter and Kim Carter both of Jesup; a son, Owen Carter, Jr. of Odum; sister, Frances Daniels of Surrency; 3 grandchildren, Kirby and Cody Griffis, and Manny Carter, 1 great grandchild, Landi Griffis; son-in-law, Herbie Griffis.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 29, 2023 from Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Logan Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Hospice of South Georgia.

Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.
