Ludowici, Ga. William D. Rogers, 72, of Jones Creek was called to eternal glory on October 5, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family after an extended illness. He was born in Long County, Georgia on January 13, 1943 to Elise Florie Rogers and Jimmie F. Rogers. He lived his entire life in the Jones Creek Community. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing most of his life and relished farming the land of his forebears. He was predeceased by a nephew and adopted brother, Darren Ray; sister, Margaret Rogers Ray. He leaves to cherish his memory, his greatest love, his wife of 49 years, Sharon Wilkes Rogers of Ludowici, Georgia; sons and daughters-in-law, William D. "Billy" (Miranda) Rogers, Jr. of Jesup, Georgia, Jerry (Sarah "Pebbles") Rogers, H. Jason (Tori) Rogers both of Ludowici, Georgia, brother-in-law and adopted son and daughter-in-law, F. Barry (Janelle) Wilkes of Hinesville, Georgia; grandchildren, Morgan, Chase, Taylor, Kylee, Cydney, Chance, and Bailey Rogers, Sonni Boatright; great-granddaughter, Riley Rogers; sister, Betty Rogers Morris; brother, James E. Rogers, Sr. of Ludowici, Georgia; niece, Nichole "Nikki" Morris Lynn; nephews, James E. Rogers, Jr. of Walthourville, Georgia and Walter Rogers of Glennville, Georgia; several other nieces and nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Jones Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Stokes and Mr. Barry Wilkes officiating. Interment will be in Jones Creek Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be William Rozier, Jody Dunham, Billy Milton, James Rogers, Jr., G. W. Dunham, III, and Carl Futch. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow employees of Interstate Paper Company and all his friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home.
