Virginia Douberly Ward, 95 of Jesup passed away Saturday, August 10, 2024. The Wayne County native was a member of Parkway Church of God and was a life- long homemaker. An avid Atlanta Braves fan, she also enjoyed cooking, fishing, and her life as "Granny". She was the widow of Leroy D. Ward and a former husband, Fred Peterson and was also predeceased by daughters, JoAnn Swilley and Evelyn Kent, and a grandson, David Swilley.

Survivors are one daughter, Rejuvia (Michael) Poindexter of Jesup; a son, Denny (Peggy) Ward of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Sheila Ann Scott of Valdosta, Shelby D. (Bryan) McCombs of Jesup, Nacole Carter, Barbie Carter, Cricket Hatcher, and Carmen (Darron) Rush; sister, Sara Nance of Paducah, KY; brother, Daniel (Boots) Douberly of Jacksonville, FL; great grandchildren, Justin (Amber), Paige, Aiden, River, Amilya, DeVein, Malachi, Skky, Mazzie, Shenna, Merrell, Julie, Mikayla, and James; one great grandchild, Ivy;  several nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 12, 2024 from   Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill and Rita Harper officiating. Private graveside services will be in the Screven City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be family.

Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
