Vincent Stadnick, 94, of Screven, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024.He was born in West Palm Beach, Florida. Vincent attended Montverde Academy in Montverde, Fla., where he was an outstanding student and athlete. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after high school and served for two years. After discharge, he attended Stetson University, where he met Sylvia Griffis, who was to become his wife. Upon graduation, Vincent returned to Army duty as a commissioned officer in the Military Police at Camp Rucker and Fort Benning. After completing his Army service, he and Sylvia moved to her hometown of Screven in 1955. He was a dedicated member of Screven United Methodist Church. He taught and coached at Screven High School until 1966. When the consolidation of county schools created Wayne County High, he taught and served as head of the Social Studies Department. In 1973, he moved into administration as the principal at Screven Elementary for three years and then back to Wayne County High as principal. Throughout his years as an educator, Vincent continued to pursue his own higher education and received his Doctorate inEducation from the University of Georgia in 1985. He served as Assistant County School Superintendent for 5 years until retiring in 1991.He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 60 years, Sylvia Griffis Stadnick.
Survivors include Diane (Chuck) Bennett of Screven, David (Angela) Stadnick of Dunwoody, Ga., and Dr. Michael Stadnick (Tracy) of Brentwood, Tenn. ; 7 grandchildren, Jonathan Bennett, Jennifer (Rob) Young, Natalie Stadnick-Uhl, Stephanie (Aidan) Hall, Benjamin, Christopher and Emily Stadnick; great grandchildren, Joseph Uhl, Asher Young, Mirella Hall and Archer Young.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25, 2024 from Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Patrick Brannen officiating. Interment will follow in the Screven Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jonathan Bennett, Chris Stadnick, Ben Stadnick, Rob Young, Aiden Hall and Bruce Fletcher.
Family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
