Tracy Thornton, 89, of Screven, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2025 in the Hospice of South Georgia Inpatient Unit.  The Wayne County native was a member of Jesup Church of God and a farmer at heart.  In his later years, he worked for Tractor Supply in Jesup.  Hard work was his greatest character attribute and that came in handy on his daily farming chores.  His wives, Glinda Faye Horton Thornton and Lizzie Marie Ammons Thornton preceded him in death along with his daughter, Lorrie Thornton; parents, Alma and Clyo Thornton; a sister, Glenice Thornton and two brothers, Colson and Phillip Thornton and a step-son, Timothy Johnson.

Survivors are two sisters, Jeraldine "Jerry" Griffis of K-Ville and Barbara Blankenship of Alabama; 3 sons, Matt (Julie) Thornton, Robin (Sarah) Thornton and Travis (Wendy) Thornton, all of Screven; 7 grandchildren, Michael (Ashonda) Thornton, Jeremy (Kate) Metts, Adam (Mary Nell) Thornton, Brody (Summor) Thornton, Maegan (Dustin) Mathis, Elisha (John) Davis and Lorren (Ricky) Hall; several great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild on the way; several nieces and nephews; step-children, Curtis (Beth) Johnson and Angela (Wade) Gill and their families.

Graveside funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, November 21, 2025 in Screven City Cemetery with Pastor Scott Hatten officiating. Active pallbearers will be his family.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery.
