Obituary

Timothy Harold “Timbo” Sheffield, 66 of Screven, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026, while under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. He was surrounded by his family and covered in the many prayers of those who loved and cared for him. He was a Wayne County native, a Baptist, was a familiar face to many and a man who never met a stranger. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone in need and dearly loved his family and friends. For 19 years, Timbo served Wayne County as an equipment operator with the Wayne County Road Department and took great pride in his work, especially operating the MoTrim and maintaining the rights-of-way throughout the Screven and K’ville area. Timbo believed in doing a job right and roads he cared for reflected that pride. Timbo was a man of many talents and wore many “hats” throughout his life, he worked in roofing and construction, was skilled in small-engine repair and electrical work. He also had lifelong love of racing, enjoyed go-cart racing, was an avid NASCAR and drag racing fan (his brother Guy was his favorite driver). Timbo was a true Mopar man, proudly owning a 340 Dodge Duster in a family of Ford racing men. Timbo was preceded in death by his father, George Harold Sheffield and his mother, Jona Eason Sheffield.

Survivors include his daughter, Kristal Lynn Sheffield of Jacksonville, FL, 3 brothers, Craig Sheffield of Pensacola, FL, Guy (Dawn) Sheffield, Paul (Karen) Sheffield, both of Jacksonville, FL, his sister, Tina Sheffield Murphy of Screven, 3 grandchildren, Jeena (Marvin) Barnett of Jacksonville, FL, Issiah (Tessa) Barnett, & Noah Barnett, both of Parrottsville, TN, his aunt, Caroline Koch of Jesup, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services are being held by the family.

The Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of the arrangements.
