Our sweet Mama and Mema, Thelma Lee Watson O'Neal Stephens joined her loved ones in heaven on Saturday, November 12, 2022. She was a long- time member of Jesup Christian Fellowship Church and presently a member of God's Way Worship Center. She was well-loved by everyone who knew her and never met a stranger. She loved God, her family and friends and was known far and wide for her extraordinary sewing skills. At 96 years old, she was the last of her siblings and all of her in-laws. She was predeceased by her husbands, Archie L. O'Neal, Sr. and William T. "Bit" Stephens, Sr.; a son, William T. Stephens, Jr. (Tommy); two daughters, Elanor Jane O'Neal and Nancy L. Stephens.
She is survived by her sons, MSgt Archie L. (Debi) O'Neal, Jr. USMC (Ret) of Lanette, Alabama, Jim O'Neal and MAJ Daniel L. (Mary) O'Neal USA (Ret) both of Jesup, David (Denise) Stephens of Lavelle, Wisconsin; daughters, Shirley O'Quinn of Pendergrass, Georgia, Anona Kay O'Neal, Linda O'Neal and Doreen O'Neal all of Jesup; 25 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; countless nephews, nieces, and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2022 from Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Harold Hand and Rev. William Sloan officiating. Interment will be in the Flint Branch Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
