Sue Odom Tuten, 85, of Jesup, Ga. passed away under Hospice of South Georgia's care and surrounded by the comfort of her loved ones on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.  Sue was born July 4, 1940, which was fitting of her firecracker personality. She was a graduate of Wayne County High School/Jesup High School, where she was a majorette in the Yellow Jacket Band. After graduation, she went on to fulfill her dream of becoming a master cosmetologist and opening her own salon in Jesup. She enjoyed connecting with her clients, never letting them leave without a laugh or a "colorful" word or two! Later, she attended Brunswick Junior College to obtain a degree in hospitality which led to her career in hotel management in the Golden Isles. Sue had a strong Christian faith that she sustained throughout her life and was a life- long member of Gardi Baptist Church. She was passionate in all her endeavors including playing piano, gardening, and baking cakes with her granddaughter. She brought smiles and laughter everywhere she went, including her time she spent at Harborview Health Systems of Georgia and was cared for by her loving daughter and her memory will live on forever. Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Ted and Monnie Odom; a brother, Foster Odom; sister in-law, Gail Odom, and brother in-law, Warren Purvis.

Sue is survived by her husband, Kenneth E. Tuten of St. Marys; her daughter, Ginger Strickland-Dugas of Jesup; granddaughter, Davison Dugas (Tyler Kimbrel) of Brunswick; sisters, Dinah Purvis of Jesup, Linda Phillips (Carroll) of Tybee Island, Brenda Timms of Macon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Gardi Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Todd officiating.

The family will receive friends at 3:00 pm at Gardi Baptist Church prior to the services.
