Obituary

Silas Moxley, 83, of Jesup, Georgia passed away at home on Monday, March 20, 2023, surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice. The Emmanuel County native had lived in Wayne County for the last 75 years. He attended Old Bethel Baptist Church. Silas served his country in the United States Army for two years during which he was stationed in Germany. He retired from ITT Rayonier as a Shift Maintenance Foreman in 2000 and was a master welder. Silas, lovingly known as Silo the Great to his family and friends was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and he knew the Altamaha River like the back of his hand. His favorite pastime was spending time with those he loved who he referred to as "the best family in the world". He often told them the two most important things in life are God and family. He was married to the love of his life, Anna Lee, for 62 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Moxley and Eva Byrd and his grandson, Travis Moxley.

Survivors are his wife, Anna Lee Crosby Moxley, his sons, George (Debbie) Moxley, Greg (Robin) Moxley, Wayne (Melissa) Moxley, all of Jesup; his daughter, Sissy (Gutt) May of Jesup; his grandchildren, Kacee (Wesley) Surface, Little Greg Moxley, Breezy Moxley, Zac (Grace) Moxley, Allie (Grayson) Thomas, Madison Moxley, Kadie Moxley, Dustin Moxley, Cort and Charli May; great grandchildren, Breyden, Brody, Brookeston, Walker, and Tate; step great grandchildren, Brooklynn and Dewey; two sisters, Eloise (Durwood) Stanfield of Jesup and Valerie Deloach from Claxton; two brothers, James (Betty) Moxley and Otis (Sandra) Moxley, both of Jesup; a host of special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at Unity Church of God with Reverends Mark Ledbetter and George Moxley officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dustin, Lil Greg and Zac Moxley, Cort May, Breyden Moxley McGowan, Caleb Campbell, Brody and Brookeston McGowan.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 PM Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Moxley Ministries, PO Box 952, Jesup, GA 31598.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
