James Sidney Collier, Sr., 81, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025 under the care of Hearth Hospice. The Glynn County native had lived in Wayne County most of his adult life and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church where he and his wife, Marie taught Sunday School. Aviation was Sidney's life. He was a pilot for Pan Am and Delta Airlines, a mechanic for Stambough Aviation in Brunswick and an aviation inspector for Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation. His proudest accomplishment was a test mechanic for Jupiter 5. His wife of 50 years, Marie Kindred Collier preceded him in death along with his parents, J.T. and Lucille Gale Collier and a brother, Barry Collier.
Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Kipp Manning of Jesup, Launa Chamberlin and husband, Steve Watkins of Richmond Hill; a son and daughter-in-law, James, Jr. and Angela Collier of Dublin, Ga.; grandchildren, Brent and Melody Westberry, Davis and Leanna Westberry, Alayna and Eric McLean, Aurelia and Zachary Lee, Maria and Vincent Keyser, Alma Johnson, Micha and Caitlyn Manning, Manny and Hayley Manning and Rieaha Manning; a brother, Stanley and Sherry Collier of Jesup; a sister-in-law, Karen Collier of Jesup; a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Friday, December 12, 2025 at Rinehart Chapel with Pastor Timothy McBee and Rev. Kipp Manning officiating.
Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
