Sherry Thornton Wasdin, 73, of Patterson, died Thursday, June 29, 2023. The Chicago, IL native had lived most of her life in Wayne County and upon retirement moved to Appling County. She attended Screven First Baptist Church and retired as an administrative assistant from the Wayne County Board of Education. She enjoyed fishing and shopping in her spare time. Her husband of 54 years, Dwayne Wasdin preceded her in death.

Survivors are two daughters, April (Ron) Regier of Escanaba, Michigan and Shay Wasdin of Patterson; a son, Jeremy (Shanda) Wasdin of Bristol; 7 grandchildren, Ridge Purcell (fiancé, Mallory Duncan), Leslie Purcell, Jose and Jesse Zarraga, J.J. Wasdin, MacKenzie and Christian Regier and an expected great grandson, Walker Ridge Purcell; two sisters, Dixie (Frank) Poppell of Colorado and Shellie Gay (Mitchell) Bohannon of South Carolina; a brother, Drew (Tina) Thornton of Jesup; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2023 in Lake Chapel Cemetery in Patterson with Elder Jason Deal officiating.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
