Shelba Jean Loper Cartwright, 80, of Hortense, Ga. passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2023.  The Wayne County native was a member of Hortense Church of God of Prophecy.  The homemaker loved her cats. Her husband, James Robert "J.R." Cartwright preceded her in death along with her parents, Solomon and Stella Loper and brother, Cecil Loper.

Survivors are her brother, Jerry Loper of Waycross and numerous extended relatives.

Graveside funeral services were held 11 AM Tuesday, May 23, 2023 in the Blackshear City Cemetery with Pastor Rob Hutto officiating. Active pallbearers were her church family members.

The family received friends at the cemetery prior to services.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup was in charge of arrangements.
