Sarah Hawkins Paul, 84, of Jesup, Ga. went to her heavenly home on Sunday, July 17, 2022.  The Wayne County native and former resident of Long County was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved her Adult Sunday School Class.  She was an essential part in the kitchen ministry with the bereaved families, Wednesday night suppers, socials, wedding and baby showers, even serving her brothers and sisters in Christ from a wheelchair. As a retired teacher who was awarded teacher of the year several times, she engaged her students by piquing their interests in science with all kinds of critters in the classroom. Her "forever grandson", Joshua David "J.D." Paul preceded her in death along with her parents, Dr. Lewis and Ruth Hawkins and brother, Lewis.

Survivors are her husband of 61 years, Harold Paul of Jesup; two sons, Steven (Dena) Paul of Blackshear and David (Chrisine) Paul of Jesup; two grandchildren, Blane (Carson) Paul of Statesboro and Hannah Grace Paul of Jesup; a great grandson, Baylor Paul; a sister, Cindy (the late John) Hulett of Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be 11 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church with Brothers Vann Dempsey and Pete Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be George Moody, Fred Holland, Bobby Hughes, Mike Highsmith, Gary Parks, Scott Moseley, John Rogers, Chris Carey and Carl Rozier. Honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday School class members and the Wayne County retired teachers.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 AM prior to services at the church.
