Janie "Ruth" Johnson Burkhalter, 77, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2025 under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. The Wayne County native enjoyed taking care of her flowers and working in her yard. Her husband of 45 years, Herman Brett Burkhalter preceded her in death.

Survivors are two sons, Michael Brett Burkhalter and Eric Scott Burkhalter, both of Jesup; two grandsons, Jacob and Jordan Burkhalter; a brother, Howard (Patsy) Johnson of Augusta and sister, Melba Gest of Jesup.

Graveside funeral services will be 3PM Tuesday, September 30, 2025 in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Stanley Todd officiating.

Family will receive friends at the cemetery.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
