Odum, Ga. Robert L. Surrency, Sr., 89 of Odum, Ga. died Friday, April 25, 2014. The Wayne County, Ga. native was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church and was a retired farmer. He enjoyed fishing, raising hogs, watching his backyard hummingbirds and visiting with family and friends under the pecan tree. He was predeceased by his wife, Katie Westberry Surrency; two brothers, Labon Surrency and Cecil Surrency. Survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Jeannine Surrency, Bobby and Christie Surrency, both of Odum, Ga.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Betty and Ed Anderson, Frankie Madray, both of Odum, Ga.; a brother and sister-in-law, Hovis and Dot Surrency of Odum, Ga.; 5 grandchildren, Anthony Surrency, Marion Surrency, Stephanie Chadwick, Leslie S. Day and Lauren Surrency; 8 great grandchildren, Whitney, Skylar and Blake Chadwick, Austyn, Shelby and Madison Surrency, Lilly Beth and Lila Brook Day; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Red Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Calvin Anderson, Rev. Tim Hall and Rev. Jack Lee officiating. Interment will be in the Red Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Anthony Surrency, Marion Surrency, Austyn Surrency, Jamey Chadwick, Blake Chadwick, Marcus Day and Larry Surrency. James McKenzie, Glynn Wynn, Tom Collins, Eddie Surrency, Wade Madray,Darryl Madray, Jacob Weaver, Ryan Madray, Edgar Viterbo and the employees of Hospice of South Georgia.
