Jesup, Ga./Brunswick, Ga. Robert J. "Coop" Cooper, 69, of Brunswick, Georgia passed away at his home after an extended illness. He served as a U.S. Marine from 1963 to 1975 achieving the rank of Gunnery Sgt. At the time, he was the youngest Gunnery Sgt. in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Nancy Beck Cooper; son, Robert James Cooper, Jr.; and beloved dachshund, Biscuit. He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Bonnie S. Cooper of Brunswick, Georgia; sister, Nancy Machusak of Sunbury, Pennsylvania; brother, Ed Cooper of Irish Valley, Pennsylvania; nieces and spouses, Diane and Wesley Schrader, and Donna and Bruce Berry; two dachshunds, Tinkerbell and TaterBug. Graveside service with full military honors and Rev. David Morton officiating will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the Beaufort National Cemetery, Beaufort, South Carolina. Visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 on Monday, May 18, 2015 at the Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home.
