Rev. David Hubbs, Sr., 77, of Jesup, Ga. passed away Monday, September 28, 2026 after a short illness. The Harlen, Kentucky native resided in Jesup, Ga. the past 56 years and was a member of the Crossroads Church of God. Throughout his tenure as a pastor with Southeast Church of God, he pastored Ephesus Church of God and also Lakeland Church of God. He was a retired 38-year employee with Norfolk Southern Railway and served 3 years in the United States Army and 3 years in the reserves. While enlisted, he served 11 months in the Vietnam Conflict in Company B of the 575th Engineer Batallion where he received a Purple Heart. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Rev. Walter and Elsie Hubbs, two brothers, Roy Hubbs and Rev. Laman Hubbs, a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley (Clyde) Calhoun, sister-in-law, Phyllis Hubbs, and brother-in-law Zollie Bowling.

Survivors include his beautiful and loving wife of 56 years, Viola Woods Hubbs of Jesup; daughter, Jennifer (James) Johnson of Jesup; a son, David, Jr. (Shannon) Hubbs of Jesup; grandchildren, Anthony Johnson, Maycee (Tim) Pushee, Elsie (Walker) Reddish, Gracie (Aaron) Horne, and Ashley Johnson; great grandchildren, Tatum, Felix, Hattie, Amelia, Ezra and Dex; brothers, Grady (Betty) Hubbs, Dennis (Charlette) Hubbs, Tommy (Joyce) Hubbs, Rev. Paul (Fonda) Hubbs, Orville Hubbs, Roger (Star) Hubbs, and a sister, Brenda Bowling; a host of nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2026 from Crossroads Church of God with Pastor Brandon Stone and Pastor Larry Giles officiating. Interment will follow in Hubbs Family Cemetery off of Woods Bridge Road, Jesup, Ga. 31545. Active pallbearers will be Andrew Hubbs, Walker Reddish, Aaron Horne, Anthony Johnson, Dylan Keithley, Tim Pushee and Timothy Hewitt. Honorary pallbearers will be the pastors of the Southeast Church of God and the past and present employees of Norfolk Southern Railway.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2026 from Crossroads Church of God on Highway 169 in Jesup, Ga.
