Retha "Nippy" Barton, 85, of Jesup, Ga. went to her heavenly home on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 8, 2022.  The Florida native had lived in Wayne County all of her adult life and was a charter member of Crossroads Church of God.  Her career began selling newspapers for the Jesup Press and then she went on to work at the factory. Retha cooked for the patients at the Orange Street Nursing Home for many years.  In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, gardening and attending church but most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. Her fur baby, "Daisy" was a prized pet.  Her husband, William "Bill" Barton preceded her in death along with 3 sisters, Carolyn Owens, Ila Manning and Lulu Greene and brother, Dan Johns.

Survivors are 4 daughters, Anita (Ken) Davis, Nelida Sinclair, Frances Dick and Treda (Harold) Hodges; 4 sons, Steve (Wanda) Barton, David Barton, Bill (Shelia) Barton and Jody (Kelly) Barton; 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Corine Johns and Christine Willis; 3 brothers, Willie (Mary) Johns, Wilson Johns and Herman (Shelba) Johns.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Crossroads Church of God with Rev. Hulet Smith and Pastor Brandon Stone officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be her grandchildren.  Honorary pallbearers will be her Sunday school class members.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
