Rene (RL) Drawdy, 90 went to be with his Lord and Savior on August 4, 2024.  Born in Jesup, he was a 1952 graduate of Wayne County High School, playing football for the Yellow Jackets.  Over the years he lived in Wayne and Glynn Counties.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Helen Marie Luther Drawdy. He was born to Meldrim Akin and Carrie Drury Drawdy. An Army Veteran, he left the service to pursue a career as a land developer, swine farming, mortician and finally working for the Clerk of Glynn County Courts for 19 years.  After retirement he loved working in his yard and gardening.

Survivors include daughters Janet (Riki) Miller of Mt. Pleasant, Kathleen (Creg) Martin of Swainsboro, step son, John Yonkosky and  step daughter, Lynette Gallagher.  In the last couple of years he inherited a bonus daughter, Anita Pippin.  He has an aunt, Jeanett Nail Clark and numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren and cousins.

Funeral services will be held at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday August 7, 2024 at 11:00 am with Pastor Rick Turner officiating.  Private interment will be in Akin Memorial Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be family and friends.  Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Hospice of South Georgia.

Family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
