IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Phyllis Ratliff
Christian
February 23, 1951 – March 13, 2026
Phyllis Ratliff Christian, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026. Born on February 23, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida, Phyllis's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and warmth that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Throughout her life, Phyllis worked several jobs, demonstrating a tireless work ethic and commitment to those she loved. Yet, it was in her later years that she found her greatest joy: being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Her home was a sanctuary of family treasures, proudly displaying photos and mementos of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren on every wall.
Phyllis was an avid flower gardener, her hands nurturing life and beauty from the earth, much as she nurtured those around her with kindness and care. Equally, her collection of antique China dishes spoke to her appreciation of history and the elegance of times gone by, a testament to her thoughtful and gentle spirit.
She leaves behind her husband of 56 years, Larry Christian of Jesup. Their daughter Amy Barwick, married to David, and their son Phillip Christian, married to Holly, both reside in Jesup.
Phyllis’s heart expanded exponentially through her five grandchildren: Madison Riner and her husband Sebastian, Morgan Christian, Hunter Thurmon and his wife Sarah, Tanner Barwick, and Amber Harter alongside her husband Hagen. She also found immeasurable delight in her great-grandchildren — Noah, Liam, and Amelia — whose laughter and presence illuminated her final years.
Her brothers, Freddie Ratliff, and Earl Ratliff and his wife Charlene, as well as her sister Janice Cowart also survive along with several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, J.J. and Maxine Ratliff, and her sister Belinda Griffin.
A visitation will be held on March 15, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Rinehart & Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Hatten officiating. A private family interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery with her family serving as active pallbearers.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
