Phanetta Mills "Peggy" Brewer, 101, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 under the care of her family and Hospice of South Georgia.  The Nebraska native had lived in Wayne County since 1985 and formerly attended Bethlehem Baptist Church and was the oldest member of Ritch Missionary Baptist Church. Her husbands, Joe Brewer, Harold Helmuth and W.C. Lane preceded her in death along with her son, Winston Clayton Lane; daughters, Edna Rowell and Colleen Douberly and grandson, Jeremy Brown; 3 sisters, Ann Dunlavy, Verta Miller and Elaine McCaig; a brother, Ivan Mills.

Survivors are 4 daughters, Debbie (Bill) Joyner of Jesup, Deniece (David) Taylor of Powder Springs, Sarah (Robin) Thornton of K-Ville, Pattie Lane of Trudy; two sons, Rickey (Cheryl) Helmuth of Hortense and Terry (Darlene) Lane of Waycross; 17 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Ritch Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Bryan Gill and Rev. Keith Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Satilla Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia Building Fund, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, GA 31545.
