Pearline Channell Thornton, 81, of Jesup, passed away, Monday, August 31, 2026. The Wayne County native was a Baptist and lived in Jesup all of her life. She enjoyed her time at home cooking, canning vegetables, making jelly and doting on her family, especially the grandchildren and the great grandchildren. Fishing was also a favorite hobby. Her husband, Carl Junior Thornton preceded her in death along with her parents, Jim Willie and Leona Channell; siblings, Charles Channell, Alice Clark, Roy Channell and Carolyn Lynn.

Survivors are two daughters, Kathy (Michael) Blocker and Sherry (Gary) Simmons, both of Jesup; a son, Charles Lynn, Jr. of Jesup; a sister, Vivian Jackson of Gray; 6 grandchildren, Michael (Heather) Blocker, Jr., Hunter (Caroline) Blocker, Stacy (Joseph) Hargrove, Mandy Simmons, Teri Bailey, Lawrence “Bubba” Middleton; 8 great grandchildren, Clayton, Bryson, Kinsley, Xander, Kai, Zachery, Chase, and Rileigh; a great-great-grandchild, Zion; several nieces and nephews; a special caregiver, Georgia “Sissy” Simmons.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Thursday, September 3, 2026 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Calvin Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Michael Blocker, Jr., Hunter Blocker, Chase and Zachery Bailey, Clayton Blocker, and Wyatt Strickland. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren and great grandchildren, staffs of Harborview Health Systems and Hospice of South Georgia.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
