O.T. "Terry" Nichols, 83, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.  The Wayne County native and 1957 Jesup High School Graduate furthered his education at Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated in 1961.  His interest in law landed him at Emory Law School when he received his degree in 1965.  He started his law practice in Glynn County and returned to Jesup in 1977 to serve as judges of the Magistrate Court and Juvenile Court.

His wife of 43 years, Mary Ruth "M. R." Nichols preceded him in death along with 3 grandsons, Matthew, Nathan and David.

Survivors are two sons, Mark (Debbie) Nichols, Michael Nichols, both of Jesup; a daughter, Cathy (Paul) Hegeman of St. Simons Island; grandchildren, Mark Alan Nichols, Lydia Nichols (Michael) DelRossi, Mary Ann, Andrew, Clare and Josiah Nichols, Paul Steven and Scott Hegeman; 3 great grandchildren, Hailey, Madison and Treyson.

Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Rinehart Chapel with Bishop George Moxley officiating. Interment will follow in the Screven City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be cousins, Wade, Harmon and Jimmy Raulerson and friend, Jim Westberry.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
