Monica Jean Mathis, 63, of Ludowici, Ga. passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025. The Baltimore, Maryland native had lived in Ludowici over 20 years, worked for the Copeland Corporation where she invented the double boring bar for the orbit on an air conditioning unit and also worked on fire suppression alarms. In her later years, she became a homemaker. Her parents, Tom and Judith Barton preceded her in death along with 8 siblings.
Survivors are her husband of 34 years, Donald Mathis of Ludowici; a daughter, Bridget Perry of Ludowici; two sons, Chris Barton of Jacksonville, Fla. and David Graver of Lebanon, Missouri; 3 siblings, Debbie Barton, Brian Barton and Mike Barton; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held by the family.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
