Screven, Ga. Mildred Dasher Miller, 96 of Screven, Ga. died Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the Golden Living Center after an extended illness. The Long County, Ga. native was a member of Screven First Baptist Church and a retired substitute teacher at Screven Elementary School. She was passionate about her flower garden and loved to attend gospel sings. Mrs. Miller also liked to shop for clothing and jewelry. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Joe Miller; two sisters, Willa Smith and Jean Fincher; 4 brothers, Cyril, Howard, Deron and Chap Dasher. Survivors are two sons and daughters-in-law, Freddie and Delores Miller, Durwood and Annette Miller, both of Screven, Ga.; 4 grandchildren, Norman Miller, Joey Miller, Doug Miller and Maria Miller Jacobs; 6 great grandchildren, Michael Jacobs, Barrett Miller, Callie Ann Miller, Brice Miller, Claire Miller and Maggie Miller; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 3 P.M. Monday, January 13, 2014 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Dr. Ron Wilcox officiating. Interment will be in the Screven City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Edwin Tyre, Jerry Parker, George Roberson, Connie Marker, Larry Barnes, Will Tyre and Buddy Roberson. Visitation will be 2 to 3 P.M. prior to services at the funeral home.
