Mike "Duck" Dawson, 73, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2023. The Pennsylvania native, former resident of Greenfield, Indiana, had lived in Wayne County for the past 50 years. The U.S. Navy Veteran, having served in the Vietnam War, was a member of O'Quinn Baptist Church. He helped many people with their CB radios and was a volunteer firefighter. His daughter, Tabitha preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Dawson of Jesup; daughter, Elizabeth (Dennis) Pittman of Jesup; two sons, Craig Dawson of Jesup and John (Nancy) Dawson of Screven; 7 grandchildren, Micah, Nathaniel, Emily, Caleb, Ryan Copeland, Lance and Tabitha Dawson.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Greenlee officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Wayne County Volunteer Firefighters.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
