Jesup, Ga.

Melody Key, 64 of Jesup died Sunday, September 23, 2018 after an extended illness surrounded by family at her residence and under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. The Miami, Florida native had lived most of her adult life on Sugar Loaf Key in the Florida Keys, but had relocated to Jesup to be near family after the passing of her husband, Danny Key in 2006. Besides being a successful entrepreneur, Melody (Mel to her friends) was a Champion Women's Angler in the Florida Keys and friend to many.  Survivors are her three sisters, Lona Banks, formerly of Jesup and now of Tucson, Arizona, Elizabeth Cameron of Jesup and Kathy Taylor of Brunswick;  several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be 4 PM Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Pastor Jack Lee officiating.  A Celebration of Life is planned for December on Mel's Key, a small island discovered by her husband just off Sugar Loaf Key.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, Ga. 31545.
