Obituary

Rev. Maurice Floyd, 85, of Jesup died Wednesday, May 11, 2022. The Appling County native had lived in Wayne County most of his adult life and was a former member and Sunday School teacher at Crossroads Church of God and is currently a member of Piney Grove Church of God. Brother Maurice was a 20- year Fort Stewart Civil Service retiree and was called into the Church of God and worked in the mission field helping to build several churches including Altamaha Church of God. He pastored and built the 1 st Church of God in Richmond Hill and was pastor for 10 years at Glenville Church of God. He was a community minded pastor and always available to assist whomever needed help. He is predeceased by his daughter, Patty Rena Floyd and grandson, Randall Maurice Floyd.

Survivors are his wife of 65 years, Mezell Blanton Floyd of Jesup, Ga.; son, Randy (Barbara) Floyd of Midway, Ga.; daughter, Donna (Leon) McKenzie of Twin City, Ga.; grandchildren, Krystal (Donnie) Smiley of Baxley, Ga., Jonathan (Danna) Harvey of Odum, Ga; great grandchildren, Garrison, Layton, Paisley, and Hayes, niece Lory Ann Blanton; special great niece, Madison Blanton; several other nieces and nephews.

Celebration of Life services will be held 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 13, 2022 from Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hulett Smith and Rev. R.M. Warren officiating. Interment will follow in the New Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be family.

Family will receive friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup, Ga. is in charge of arrangements.
