Mary Jane Stanfield, 87, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026.

Born in Elmont, New York, Mary Jane later moved to Screven, Georgia, where she was a proud resident for more than 55 years. She attended Waycross College, where she earned an associate degree in General Business.

Mary Jane was known for her kindness and willingness to help others. She served for many years as a bookkeeper at Lakeview Retirement Center in Baxley. In addition to her dedication to helping others, she cherished time spent with her husband and extended family. Mary Jane also enjoyed gardening, baking, and going to the movies.

Her beloved husband of 62 years, Dwight Stanfield, preceded her in death, along with her parents, Edward and Ethel Washburn.

She is survived by her son, Gregory Stanfield; her daughter-in-law, Kerry Stanfield, and her granddaughter, Caroline Stanfield, all of Greenville, S.C.

Celebration of Life services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the Screven Methodist Church on March 21 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Dean Slusser officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. Private interment will be in The Screven City Cemetery.
