Martheta Rentz Lightsey, 94, of Bristol, Ga. died Friday, March 31, 2023.  The Appling County native was the oldest member of Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church and a former seamstress for several companies.  She enjoyed being a grandmother, working for her church, gardening and canning.  Her husband, Charlie Hugh Lightsey preceded her in death.

Survivors are a daughter, Linda (Larry) Boyd of Austell; son, Hugh Lightsey of Bristol; granddaughter, Martheta (Kenneth) Knowles of Austell, Brandon (Kimberly) Lightsey and Brooks Lightsey, both of Bristol, Charlie (Tenesa) Lightsey of Patterson; several great grandchildren, Harley, Grant, Carter, Luke, Karsyn and Charlie Hugh.

Funeral services will be 1 PM Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at Piney Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor David Young officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her grandsons will serve as her pallbearers.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
