Marion Jones Hires, 94, of Jesup, Ga. died Thursday, November 17, 2022.  The Wayne County native was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Sr. Adult Sunday School Class.  She enjoyed gardening with her mate of 66 years, freezing and canning to share with neighbors and friends. Olen "Jr." Hires and her grandson, Rob Mathis preceded her in death.

Survivors are two loving daughters, Debra (Ted) Mathis of Jesup and Sheree (Exley) Hill of Franklin, Tenn.; grandchildren, Brittany Youngblood, Tim (Brandi) Mathis, Michelle (Jason) Ledbetter and Justin (Rebecca) Hill; great grandchildren, Ella Toal, Cole and Laine Mathis, Sterling Youngblood, Landry Ledbetter, Jack Hill and Knox and Nolan Ledbetter; sisters, Betty Crosby of Panama City, Fla. and Shirley Ralston of St. Simons Island; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Vann Dempsey and Pastor Pete Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her family members. Honorary pallbearers will be her caregivers: Charity Barnard, Louise James, Sabrina Horne, Della Wilkerson and Hospice of South Georgia Staff.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the church.
