Lawton Richard Strickland, Sr., 90, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022.  The Wayne County native and member of Calvary Baptist Church was a retired U.S. Air Force Master Sergeant having served in the Vietnam and Korea era.  He most cherished his time with his family and loved to joke with everyone he met.  Lawton had several siblings who preceded him in death.

Survivors are his wife of almost 70 years, Barbara Ogden Strickland of Jesup; a daughter, Debra (Jerry) Cruz of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.; a son, Richard (Marty) Strickland, Jr. of Jesup; two grandchildren, Dr. Jared Cruz and Breanna Cruz; step-granddaughter, Laney Townsend and a sister, Betty Gordy.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at the Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Vann Dempsey officiating. Interment will follow in the Piney Grove Cemetery with military honors.  Active pallbearers will be his family and friends.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
