Lannie Manning Mathis, 80, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023. The Wayne County native was the last charter member of Manningtown Church of God. The homemaker used her spiritual gift of testifying about the Lord and praying for anyone that needs it. She would stop wherever she was to intercede for her Christian brothers and sisters. "Aunt Lannie" as she was called by anyone who knew her was a social butterfly who enjoyed visiting. Her husband of 33 years, Roland Mathis, preceded her in death along with her son, Cliff; parents, Lester and Ione Manning and a brother, Woodrow Manning.
Survivors are a daughter, Elizabeth Bennett of Jesup; two sons, Stanley Mathis and Joe (Kay) Mathis, both of Jesup; grandchildren, Carl (Mindy) Mathis, Dustin (Meagean) Mathis, Brittany Bennett (Jeremy Roberson), and Cliff Bennett; a sister, Joyce Goss of Jesup; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday, October 15, 2023 at Rinehart Chapel with Rev. Wayne Manning, Jr., Rev. Joe Manning and Pastor Tim Fulmer officiating. Interment will follow in the Manningtown Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Carl, Dustin, Jakob Mathis, Cliff Bennett, Josh and Jeremy Goss, Zachary Peacock and Joseph Caleb Manning.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Manningtown Church of God, 33 Orman Street, Jesup, GA 31546.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
