Lamanda Kay Nix, 56 of Jesup, Ga passed away on Thursday, November 28,2024 in the Hospice of South Georgia Inpatient Unit. She was a 1987 graduate of Reidsville High School where she was a part of FHA, 4-H, Annual Staff, Y-Club and Flag Corps. She shortly started her career at Georgia State Prison and later transferred to Wayne State Prison and Long State Prison where she retired with over 20 years of service. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Lamanda was a devoted wife, mother, sister, friend and most importantly, Granny to her "little Popsicle"- Beckett. She will be remembered as being selfless, giving, and FUN. Although she fought a chronic illness, she was sure to never let it steal her joy, and she extended that joy to everyone around her. She enjoyed cooking southern meals, making her own dance moves, and spreading her contagious laugh to her family and friends. Family was important to Lamanda and you knew that from just being around her. She was preceded in death by her loving mother Linda Woods Collins of Reidsville, Ga.; a sister Mary Booth Harden of Milledgeville, Ga.; and father-in-love Johnny Virlyn Nix of Jesup, Ga.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Donald Virlyn Nix of Jesup; her step father, Aaron Collins of Reidsville; mother-in-love Edna Nix Arnold of Perry, Ga.; two  daughters, Brandi(Bailey) Thornton of Odum and  Brittney(Pierce) Middlebrooks of Jesup; a grandson, Beckett Thornton, that she loved dearly; a brother, James(Deidra) Corbitt of Reidsville; two sisters,  Renee(Dale) White of Reidsville and Vanda Wilsey of Jesup; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews; special friends, Susan (Jimmy) Parker of Glennville.

Funeral Services will be 2 PM Sunday, December 1,2024 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Vann Dempsey officiating.   Interment will follow at the Odum City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bailey Thornton, Pierce Middlebrooks, Jimmy Parker, Joey Miller, Allen Parker, Jeff Horton. In-active pallbearer will be Norman Miller. Honorary pallbearers will be members of her 1987 graduating class.

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m.  prior to services at the funeral home.
