Karen Miller Mathis, 65, of Waynesville, Ga. passed away on Sunday, June 15, 2025 under the care of Golden Isles Hospice. The Glynn County native was a Baptist and lived in Waynesville for the past 20 years. She worked previously for the Jekyll Island Authority beautifying the grounds and drove the school bus for Glynn County Schools. She loved the beach, river, camping, karaoking, and spending time with her "adopted grandchildren". Her husband, Willie E. "Bill" Mathis preceded her in death along with her parents, Stevie and Jeanette Miller; a sister, Cynthia Miller and two brothers, Steven Wayne and Leslie Clyde Miller.
Survivors are her daughter, Amanda Mathis of Waynesville; a sister, Stephanie (Aaron) Dixon of Waynesville; 4 nieces and Christina (Trevor) McKenzie, Abby Miller, Daisy (M.J.) Lassiter and Kait (Myra) Miller; 4 nephews, Greg Miller, Dustin (Tracy) Holzman, Colby Lassiter, and Andrew (Taylor) Downey; several great nephews and a great niece whom she dearly loved and adopted them as her "grandchildren", Zachary, Steven, Noah, Landen, Lily Belle, Connor, and Emma.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at Rinehart Chapel with Pastor Raymond Willis officiating. Interment will follow in the George Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her family and friends.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
