Josephine Herrin Tyre, 97, of Odum passed away, Tuesday, May 30, 2023.  The Wayne County native was a lifelong member of Blanton Grove Church of God.  She will be remembered for her employment with Wayne Memorial Hospital, Manhattan Shirt Factory and Pascal Shirt Factory.  Her ministry was shared with her love of gardening and flowers. Her husband, Homer Franklin Tyre preceded her in death along with her son, Ronnie Tyre and 3 grandchildren, Michael Moore, Jerrod Tyre and Tiffany James Daniels and several siblings, Fleming, Vernon, Jimmy, Lamar and Etheleen.

Survivors are daughter, Janice (Rick) James of Odum; son, Gary (Jamey) Tyre of Jesup; a daughter-in-law, Jeanie Tyre of Jesup; sisters, Faye Griffis of Odum, Dale (Roger) Anderson of Jesup and Ernie Herrin of Brunswick; brothers, Herbert (Joyce) Herrin of Valdosta, Bobby Herrin of Jesup, Bennie (Erica) Hiwassee, Charles "Hody" (Sharon) Herrin and Ray (Sharon) Herrin, both of Odum; 7 grandchildren, Shane, Justin, Terry, Courtney, Allison, Greg and Ray; numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Altamaha Baptist Church with Rev. R.M. Warren and Pastor Bob Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her family.

Visitation will be an hour prior to services at the church.
