J.R. had many friends and truly enjoyed meeting new people. His family often joked that no matter where he went, even halfway across the country and beyond, he would run into someone he knew, a testament to his warm and outgoing nature. In addition to his parents, J.R. was preceded in death by his father in-law and mother in-law, C.M. and Betty Carter; his brother-in-law, Irby Toole; and Wally, the wiener dog.
