Screven, Georgia

John Evans Wise, 71, of Screven, died Saturday, March 16, 2024. The Chatham Co., Ga, native had lived in Wayne County the past 15 years and attended Bethlehem Baptist Church. He was owner of Wise Freight Company, enjoyed fishing, watching old westerns and being with his family. He was a longstanding member of the Marine Rescue Squadron of Savannah, Ga and was predeceased by his former wife, Jamie Jones Wise.

Survivors are his wife of 19 years, Marilyn Denison Wise of Screven, a daughter, Rachel (Christopher) Ivester of Ft. Knox, KY, sister, Jackie (Max) Martin of Sulphur Springs, TX, step-grandchildren, Noah, Aidan, and Madison Ivester, step-children, Tracy Pittman, III, Tonya (Thomas) Drury, and special grandson, James "Snook" Drury.

Memorial services will be held 11 AM, Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at the Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Rev. Shon Cunningham officiating.

Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM prior to services.
