John "David" Smith, 54, of Jesup, Ga. died Friday, January 27, 2023.  The Wayne County native was a Christian and a former insulation installer.  David was a sports and history enthusiast who loved watching all sports, especially the Atlanta Braves Baseball Team.  He was sentimental, caring and used humor to make everyone smile. His grandparents, Lester and Nellie Smith, J.C. and Elaine Hamilton preceded him in death along with his step-father, Bernard Scott.

Survivors are his two daughters, Rena and Kristin Smith, both of Santa Clara, Calif.; father, John (Patricia) Smith of Jesup; mother, Diane Scott of Jesup; 3 sisters, Patti (John) Robinson, Melissa (Jeff) Lewis and Melanie (Thomas) Knox, all of Jesup; step-sister, Tammy (Vince) Black of Franklin, N.C. and step-brother, Steve (Sandee) Blanton of Brunswick; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Rinehart Chapel with Reverends Charles Smith, Ryan Sweat and Dennis Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamilton Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
