Obituary

John Wayne "Floodlight" Floyd, age 72, entered the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 10th, after a brief illness, under the care of Community Hospice of Vidalia. Born in Dublin, GA, he lived most of his life in Wayne County, graduating from Wayne County High School in 1970. He was a Pipefitter by trade and started his career at Rayonier.  His passion for traveling led to many adventures and careers throughout his life.  He proudly served his country in the National Guard for many years.  He was an avid golfer, tennis player and card player.  His love for tennis led him to being a tennis instructor for many years.  While he enjoyed watching all sports, he reserved his Saturdays for cheering on his Georgia Bulldogs.  His charisma and love of joke telling could light up any room he was in.  His most favorite past-time was spending time with his family.  He is preceded by his parents James Franklin Floyd, Sr and Wilhelmena Greenway Floyd, and his brother, James Franklin Floyd, Jr.

Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Tracy Brooks Floyd of Uvalda; daughter Jennifer (Scott) Hardenbrook of Jesup; two sons, Jimmy Floyd of Jesup, Joseph (Michelle) Floyd of Gainesville, FL; two step-daughters, Kelly Carraway of Mt. Vernon and Lacy (Resse) Jackson of Galveston, TX. Five grandchildren, Ciara Eads, Chase and Joseph Floyd, Jr, Madilyn (Christian) Lambert, MacKenzeigh Hardenbrook; 4 step-grandchildren, Gracelyn Carraway, Kyle, Hannah and Brooke Jackson. A sister-in-law, Deanna Dowdy Floyd and several nieces and nephews. A special, chosen family, Virginia, Lillie and Alexia Slone.
