Joel W.  "J.W." Davis, 85, of Jesup, Ga. died Monday, November 7, 2022. The Douglas, Georgia native was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War as a communication specialist.  He was an employee with ITT Rayonier and attended Memorial Baptist Church.  He is predeceased by a grandson, Micah Neal Davis Steedley and a brother, Robert Elton Davis; a daughter, Felicia Ann Davis; great grandson, Sven Henry Brenden; his parents, Oris and Idelle Davis.

Survivors are his spouse of 63 years, Ava Nell Peterson Davis of Jesup; a daughter, Debbie Davis (Walter) Jones of Jesup; two sons, Joey (Cindy) Davis of Appomattox, Virginia; Tony (Betty) Davis of Jesup; a sister; Pauline Davis Smith of Douglas, Ga.; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; 7 great- great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 9,2022 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Manning, Jr. officiating. Interment will be in George Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be family and friends.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
