Guelda JoAnn "Joby" Surrency, 90, of Jesup, Ga. passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 under the loving care of Hospice of South Georgia and the Harborview Nursing Staff.  She was the daughter of Jewice L Bennett and Pearl Vandiver. The Salem Primitive Baptist member was a youth leader, choir member, Lighthouse Foundation member and a volunteer with the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. The devoted wife and mother enjoyed sewing, yard work, fishing and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her parents, her husband, William Griffin Surrency preceded her in death along with her sister, Wanda C. Collins.

Survivors are her children, Ben (Marti) Surrency, Lori (Barry) Kessler and Carey (Kay) Surrency; 6 grandchildren, Jessie (Sam) Barber, Hannah (Jason) Trautwein, Sarah Jo (Josh) Higgingbotham, Kadie (Dylan) Brown, Sam Surrency and Griffin (Ellie Townsend) Surrency; 6 great grandchildren, Silas, Theo, Griffin, Hunter, Ellie and Lainey; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 3 PM Friday, September 27, 2024 at Rinehart Chapel with Elder Thomas Waters and Rev. Will Bacon officiating. Private interment will follow in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her family.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
